One of the most popular figures in the UFC, Paddy Pimblett lived the greatest victory of his career when knock out Michael Chandler last Saturday (12th), at UFC 314. However, the Englishman revealed that negotiations for this fight were based on another sporting event: The game between Liverpool FC and Arsenal FC, valid for the 36th round of the Premier League.

The information was given first hand in Boss podcast, at the end of February. Pimblett, a die-hard Liverpool fan, explained that the fight with Chandler was offered to him and planned for May. However, the Evil One rejected the offer in order to be able to watch the match. The game will take place on May 11, and depending on the combination of results of the two teams until then, it could guarantee the reds the Premier League title.
“The UFC asked me about fighting on May 11/12, and I was like, ‘No, we’re playing Arsenal this weekend.’ We’re going to win the league!” he said.
Paddy Pimblett is passionate about Liverpool
Born and raised in the same city that introduced the Beatles to the world, Pimblett makes no secret of his love for the local club. In December 2023, in a video published by GQ Sports on YouTube, the British player described Liverpool as one of the most important things in his life.

Despite this, Malvado never had the opportunity to perform in his hometown as an Ultimate fighter. Since his debut in the organization, he has had three fights in England, London and Manchester.
