Caio Borralho is confident that Diego Lopes has what it takes to overcome Alexander Volkanovski and become the Ultimate featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg). The Brazilian, who also carries the Mexican flag , faces the veteran in the main fight of UFC 314 , scheduled for next Saturday (12).

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Borralho highlighted that, although Volkanovski has more experience and a solid track record facing the best in the world, Diego Lopes is in better form, with consecutive wins and a meteoric rise within the UFC.

“We have a very experienced guy against someone who's only been in the UFC for two years. Looking at it that way, it's obvious that we're going to see an advantage for Volkanovski, who's been facing the best in the world for a long time. But the moment belongs to Diego Lopes , he's beating everyone. The kid is on a meteoric rise within the organization,” said Borralho.

Regarding the technical matchup, Caio Borralho stated that the former champion may have difficulty dealing with Diego Lopes ' style . According to the Fighting Nerds representative, the Brazilian has the necessary tools to finish the fight both standing and on the ground.

“I see Volkanovski having difficulty matching his style to Diego's. Volkanovski himself said: 'To beat me, someone has to stop me and take me down with one hand.' And I see that happening with Diego Lopes . I see him putting on pressure, power, and making Volkanovski fall. And if, on the other hand, he wants to play on the ground to try and stall, he's going to be screwed. Diego Lopes is a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu, one of the best in Brazil. So I see advantages for him in this fight, with a great chance of becoming champion before the end of the fight. Obviously, Volkanovski can surprise, but I see Diego at the best moment of his career, with the ability to knock out or submit — and with a great desire to change his life,” concluded the representative of Fighting Nerds.

Diego Lopes debuted in the UFC with a loss to Movsar Evloev , after accepting the fight at the last minute. However, the Brazilian gave the Russian a tough fight and quickly won over the crowd. Since then, he has accumulated five consecutive victories in the organization. Volkanovski, on the other hand, is coming off two knockout losses, after having reigned for quite some time in the division.
