Owner of the most popular podcast in the world and UFC commentator since 1997, Joe Rogan can also be considered a legend within MMA. This gives him 'carte blanche' to express his opinions within the organization, even if they do not agree with the president of the Ultimate, Dana White. In fact, the commentator complained about the way how White was treating Magomed Ankalayev, executioner of Alex Poatán and new owner of the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg).

Joe Rogan recently revealed that he did everything he could to convince Dana White and the UFC that they were going in the wrong direction with a specific move they made. The commentator insists that he should have been listened to when he told them to invest in kickboxing instead of the 'Power Slap' (slapping fighting). During an episode of the podcast 'Joe Rogan Experience Fight Companion', Rogan said he is convinced his idea would create a huge impact in the world of combat sports.

“I think the UFC f—ed up when they went to slap fighting. I’ve been telling them all the time, ‘You guys should get into kickboxing.’ If you’re just into stand-up fighting, it’s not like the old days of kickboxing where it was boring. The knockouts are f—ing crazy. Kickboxing with MMA gloves in a cage would be huge. Just have a UFC stand-up segment. Glory has some elite fighters. I watch Glory all the time. It’s f—ing exciting, but nobody’s watching. Nobody knows who these people are,” Rogan said.

It’s no surprise that Rogan wants White and the UFC to invest in kickboxing. After all, the American fell in love with combat sports by competing in various forms of striking. Before becoming an analyst, the podcaster was making a name for himself in tournaments, which is part of the reason fighters have so much respect for him.

However, the commentator's skill set doesn't just help him gain recognition from those whose contests he calls, but also from anyone who gives him trouble. In an episode of his podcast, Rogan revealed what happened when a gang threatened to rob him.

“I was walking down the street and I saw these kids, and they were street kids. One of them said, ‘Hey, man, can you lend me some money?’ I was like, ‘I don’t have any money.’ He goes, ‘Come on, man; I know you have some fucking money.’ I’m like, ‘No, I don’t have any money.’ He goes, ‘Man, I’ll get your money.’ I said, ‘Okay.’ I kept walking, he goes, ‘Where the hell are you going?’” he says.

That's when Rogan stopped in front of the door of the taekwondo gym where he was teaching.

“I say, ‘I’m going to come up here and teach a class. Do you want to come up?’ We’re looking at each other, and he says, ‘Are you teaching a class?’ I say, ‘Yeah.’ That’s when he understood why I was so confident. I was trying to figure out, ‘Do I kick this guy’s head off his shoulders?’ At that point, I had knocked a lot of people out, I knew how to do that,” he concluded.
