Amid troubled negotiations over fight between Jon Jones x Tom aspinall for the unification of heavyweight titles (up to 120,2 kg), renowned journalist Ariel Helwani claimed to have crucial information about the case. According to the Canadian, 'Bones' demands to have at least six fights to prepare to face his rival in the octagon. If the request is accepted, the fight should only take place at the end of 2025.
“I’ve been told that Jones wants six months to prepare once they reach an agreement to make the fight. What’s six months from now? September? I know, money talks, but if the plan was to do it in the summer, it’s going to be a little unfeasible,” Ariel said on the 'Uncrowned Post-Fight Show'.

Despite the information, Dana White guarantees that the fight will happen and that he will reach the terms demanded by Jones. In addition to time, the MMA legend is also working with the option of a large payment, because, according to Jones, he was undervalued by the organization at the beginning of his career in the light heavyweight division (up to 93 kg) where he faced big names in MMA.

Inactive since victory over Curtis blaydes, in July 2024, at UFC 304, Aspinall could go over a year without stepping into the octagon to defend or unify the interim title he won. The situation bothers the athlete, who has already said he is willing to face any fighter that the agents offer.
