Jiri said he was surprised by Poatan's performance and considered that the Brazilian had the worst performance of his career. Despite recognizing that the fight was balanced, the samurai emphasized that, in title disputes, the judges usually require clear dominance over the champion to grant victory to the challenger.
“I think Alex showed the worst performance of his career, and Ankalaev was able to take advantage of that. I was surprised by Alex, and I think a lot of people were too… It was really close, but if you know how the judges score, especially in title fights, you see that you have to dominate the champion. He only won two or three rounds, and one round was 50-50. So in that way, I think the victory would have gone to Alex,” Prochazka said.
