In recent weeks, debates about the best fighter of 2024 have revolved around the names of two champions: Alex Poatán e Ilia Topuria. The Brazilian seems to have found a solution to end the discussion. The holder of the light heavyweight title (up to 93kg) suggested sharing the prize with the Spaniard, featherweight champion (65,7kg).

“I will share the prize with him [Ilia Topuria] because he also did great things. We are both the best fighters of 2024,” Poatan said in an interview with 'The Ariel Helwani Show'.

The undefeated Ilia Topuria completed 16 fights on his record with two appearances in the UFC last year. In February, the most important fight of his career when he won the division belt by beating Alexander Volkanovsky who held the title since 2019. Still in 2024, Topuria defended the title by knocking out Max Holloway in October, in UFC 308.
