“When it comes to training for an opponent (like Paddy), it takes me back to the Bellator days. There was someone who didn’t deserve to beat me every time I fought. I was a big name, the most known guy in the world in Bellator. So that meant every guy I fought had an opportunity to beat a guy who was a bigger name or a more skilled former world champion,” Chandler said.

The American acknowledged the favoritism he would have if the fight became official, but also made it clear that the odds at bookmakers would not interfere in his approach to the duel.
“I must win Paddy Pimblett “I’m a big fan of the sport in a lot of people’s eyes, so that just sparks even more motivation for me. He’s a young, hungry guy. He’s got his whole career ahead of him, whereas I’ve been doing this for 10 years longer than him, so I like that, man. Whether I’m a 1.000-1 underdog or a 1.000-1 favorite, I put in whatever work is necessary to be successful on fight night,” said the former Bellator lightweight champion (70,3 lbs.).
“I like the idea of fighting against Paddy Pimblett and make a lot of money, and be – I don’t want to say it’s an easy fight, because I could go in there and slip on a banana peel and get knocked out in front of everybody – but let’s just say I like the fight stylistically. I like Paddy as a human. I think he’s one of the good ones. And that said, that doesn’t stop me from wanting to separate him from consciousness,” he concluded.
Michael Chandler compared Pimblett to McGregor
When citing Conor McGregor, Chandler surprised by classifying Paddy Pimblett as a more complicated fight than the Irishman. According to the American, the inactivity of the biggest star in the history of MMA makes an assessment of his current conditions a difficult task.
“You can talk to a lot of people from a fight perspective who (think) Paddy might be more dangerous than Conor at this point. We haven’t seen Conor in three years. Name-wise? Yeah, you’re not going to get a bigger name than Conor,” said Chandler, who was set to face the Irishman last year.
