After two interesting fights against Kevin holland e Ian Gary in the welterweight category (up to 77,1 kg), Michael Page will have a challenge in a new weight class. The Englishman measures forces with Shara Magomedov in the UFC co-main event in Saudi Arabia, in a duel valid for the middleweight division (83,9 kg). However, according to the fighter, the experience in the new weight will not be long-lasting.

“Anyway, to be fair to myself, I will be returning to work at welterweight. If there is another opportunity at middleweight that looks good, 100 percent I will be there to do it again. But overall, I still have a lot of business I want to take care of at welterweight. For me, this is a unique and exciting fight at that weight. Maybe in the future you will see me there (middleweight), but for now I still feel comfortable going up to welterweight and I have people I would love to fight,” Page told the American website.MMA Junkie', in an interview this Wednesday (22).

MVP also explained that choosing to change categories helped him have more fun during the end-of-year festivities, by maintaining a more flexible diet.

“For me, in terms of timing, going down to middleweight, knowing that I had to go through Christmas and everything, it helped. It helped a lot. It meant I could enjoy my Christmas a lot more,” he said.

Michael Page interested in facing Leon Edwards

Among the possible challenges at 77 kg., is a duel with the former champion Leon edwards. For Michael Page, a clash in England would be interesting for British fans.

“I still think the fight between me and Leon would be great – in the UK. If someone offered me that fight anywhere else, I wouldn’t take it. It’s a disservice to our country. I think this fight needs to end here. I know we have the UK card coming up, obviously we missed that boat. Let’s say it’s the only one they do this year, then it wouldn’t happen. Again, I’m saying all this with all due respect,” he said.

“I just think it’s a great fight to have. I would love for it to be for the title, but overall I think it’s a great fight either way. The division is wide open. Colby (Covington) didn’t look great in his last fight and obviously lost. There’s a changing of the guard going on right now, so I think it’s wide open for everyone, and I just want to be in the middle of it,” MVP added.
