Dan Hooker questions the legitimacy of Arman Tsarukyan's injury and mocks his rival's privileged background

Arman Tsarukyan gave up the biggest opportunity of his career just hours before the official weigh-in UFC 311, held last Saturday (18). The Romanian was scheduled to face Islam makhachev for the lightweight title (up to 70,3 kg), but gave the chance to Renato Moicano due to a back injury.

Your competitor in the division, Dan Hooker, did not hold back on criticizing Tsarukyan's choice. In an interview with Submission Radio, Hooker questioned the legitimacy of the injury and highlighted the strangeness of suffering something so serious precisely during the weight cut and so close to such an important fight.

“How do you get injured on your day off? I have no idea… I thought it was really, really weird, man, to get an injury that bad enough to pull you out when you’re cutting weight, you know? It must be a pretty serious injury. But, like, the world title is absolutely everything,” Hooker said.

The New Zealander expressed disbelief at how anyone could pass up such an important opportunity as fighting for the UFC title. He also mocked Tsarukyan's privileged background and mocked the wealth of his father, Nairi Tsarukyan.

“I can’t understand how you let this opportunity pass you by. Obviously, I saw Dana White say he won’t get a chance to fight for the title now and he’ll have to work to get back to the top. Dad can’t buy a backbone, can he?” concluded the New Zealander.
