Put the brakes on the hype! Contrary to predictions, Raoni barcelos stepped into the octagon like a big 'underdog', dominated with his Jiu-Jitsu and took away the invincibility of Payton Talbott. The Brazilian bantamweight (up to 61,3 kg) came close to submission several times, but was awarded the victory by unanimous decision of the judges in the UFC 311, this Saturday (18).
At 37 years old, Raoni achieved his 19th career victory and is now experiencing a series of two consecutive positive results in the UFC, something that has not happened since 2020. Payton, at 26 years old, feels the bitter taste of defeat for the first time and breaks his streak of nine triumphs.

In the first few seconds of the fight, Raoni took advantage of a low kick and knocked Talbott down. When he tried to get up, the young man ended up turning his back and was almost finished with a rear naked choke. In the final stretch of the round, Raoni continued to exercise positional control, giving a true Jiu-Jitsu lesson.
In the second round, the strategies were already set: the Brazilian would seek the ground, while Payton would avoid grappling. Raoni managed three takedowns in the round, but in the second half, the fight ended up returning to the standing position, and the American managed to land some good blows.
In the last round, Talbott took advantage of the Brazilian's attempt to take him down and ended up reversing the position, landing on top. Without much action on the ground, the fighters returned to fighting standing up and, from that moment on, the fight turned into a war, with both throwing blows with all their strength. In the final stretch, Barcelos managed to take his opponent down and dominated him from above until the bell rang.

With the victory, the 29-year-old Russian achieved his 19th positive result in his career, being the ninth knockout. Reese, in turn, suffered his second defeat and had his two-fight winning streak in the UFC interrupted.
