Islam Makhachev praises Charles do Bronx and opens doors for UFC rematch

About to defend his lightweight title (up to 70,3 kg) for the fourth time in a duel against Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 311 in January, Islam Makhachev does not rule out a rematch against Charles Oliveira as his next step.

In an interview given to 'Ag Fight', the lightweight champion, who reached the throne with a victory over Do Bronx in 2022, praised his rival, apologized to the Brazilian public and left the door open for a rematch soon.

“He is one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC, he always gives the fans good fights, like he did against Chandler. The fans love him and I respect him. I want to apologize to all the Brazilians, because I took his belt, but maybe one day I will give him a rematch and we will fight again. If the people and the UFC want it, I have to do it. He is a dangerous guy. You always have to be alert. He has great grappling skills. If you blink, he will finish you. He is good at striking, grappling, he has good skills,” said the Russian.

A rematch between Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira was scheduled for October of last year. However, a cut suffered by the Brazilian just before the event forced its cancellation.
