Charles do Bronx confirms presence at UFC 311 and offers himself as a reserve for Makhachev vs. Tsarukyan

The Ultimate recently announced that the main fight of the UFC 311, the first numbered event of 2025, which takes place on January 18 in California, will be between Islam Mackachev and Arman Tsarukyan. The rematch puts the lightweight belt (up to 70,3 kg) at stake, which currently belongs to the fighter from Dagestan.

But a former belt holder will be watching the fight very closely. Former lightweight champion Charles do Bronxs recently told TNT Sports who plans to attend the UFC 311 and even offered to serve as a reserve for the event, in case something happens to Makhachev or Tsarukyan.

“I’ll be there even if I have to sit near the Octagon. If the UFC wants me [as a backup], why not? They have similar styles, I think Islam is a little bit ahead. I also think it’s going to be a very good fight, but for me, it doesn’t matter who wins. I’m next,” he said from the Bronxs.

The Brazilian, who holds the organization's record for submissions, is coming off a decision victory over Michael chandler No. UFC 309, which took place last month in New York. Currently ranked second, the Bronx native is seeking revenge against whoever wins the UFC 311.
