A recent statement by Ilia Topuria, who admitted giving up the featherweight belt (up to 65,7 kg) to move up to lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) before retiring at the age of 30, generated a reaction from one of the Georgian-Spanish's biggest enemies, Conor McGregor, who surprisingly seemed to agree with the champion's plan.

In a publication on the social network 'X' (formerly Twitter), Conor McGregor made a parallel between the planning of Ilia Topuria and his own career, claiming to have 'finished' the sport at just 27 years of age.

“Here’s the truth that will hurt all the nobodies who dream of being something. Fighting was too easy for me. At 27 I had already done it all,” he wrote.

If at 27 years old, Conor McGregor was on top of the world, today, at 36, the situation is very different. With only one victory in the last four fights and without being in action since July 2021, the Irishman has been trying to return to the octagon for years, but still has no fight scheduled.
