Almost two years have passed, but Cyryl Gane still has reflections about the night he faced Jon Jones in a heavyweight belt dispute (up to 120,2 kg) at UFC 285, in March last year. Easily finished by the now champion of the category, the Frenchman, who returns to the octagon this Saturday (10), in UFC 310, states that he 'does not recognize himself' in the fight in question.

In a statement to 'Countdown' UFC 310, available on Ultimate's YouTube channel, Cyryl Gane went back in time and talked about the confrontation against Jon Jones.

“When I look back, it was obvious that I wasn’t there. That represented exactly how I felt on fight day. I didn’t understand what was happening. I didn’t recognize myself. I fought in a way that I’ve never fought in my life. My distance control, my movement, my sense of alertness that I love to show. I didn’t have any of that,” analyzed the ‘Bon Gamin’.

Cyryl Gane recovered from defeat to Jon Jones knocking out Serghei Spivac No. UFC Paris, in September last year. Just over a year later, the Frenchman returns to the octagon this Saturday, in a crucial duel against Alexander Volkov on the main card of UFC 310 and believes he has learned lessons from the defeat to 'Bones'.

“Looking back, I think that experience may have been beneficial. For me personally, it helped me focus back on myself. It gave me a spirit of revenge, a competitive spirit.”
