Brutal night: Doctors order mandatory layoffs for all 24 fighters at UFC 309

Charles from the Bronx and three other Brazilians received mandatory 30-day medical suspensions; Jhonata Diniz, who was left unrecognizable after a knockout, received 90 days

A brutal night. All the fighters who entered the octagon at Madison Square Garden in New York last Saturday (16) UFC 309, received mandatory medical suspensions. The list was released by the New York State Athletic Commission, determining mandatory exemptions for the 24 fighters on the card, including even the heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 lbs.) Jon Jones, who defeated Stipe Miocic.

'Bones' took seven days of mandatory rest, while Miocic, who announced his retirement after being knocked out with a spinning kick to the body, took 60 days with necessary medical clearance. Among the Brazilians, Charles do Bronxs, Maurício Ruffy, Viviane Araujo e Karina Silva They received 30 days of mandatory medical leave.

Just like Jones, the Brazilian Eduardo Moura had one of the lightest layoffs, with seven days of rest.

Four fighters had longer suspensions imposed of 90 days, including the Brazilian Jonathan Diniz. The heavyweight fighter was left unrecognizable after losing by TKO to Marcin tybura on the preliminary card.

James Llontop, who was defeated by Mauricio Ruffy, Mickey gall who lost to Ramiz Brahijaj, and Bassil Hafez, knocked out by Oban Elliott, were also given a 90-day suspension along with the necessary neurological clearance before competing again.
