Ariane da Silva suffered her second consecutive defeat in the octagon on Saturday night (02). The Brazilian was defeated by the Canadian Jasmine Jasudavicius on the main card of UFC Edmonton, held in Canada. She started well, but struggled with her opponent's ground game and ended up being finished with an arm triangle in the third round.
Even with three wins in her last four fights, the Brazilian was the underdog for the fight. Known for her stand-up style, Jasudavicius' ground game made the difference in favor of the Canadian.

In the first round, Ariane moved well and landed good blows in the exchanges of punches, using her aggressiveness and explosiveness to intimidate her opponent, varying blows to the head and waistline. In the last seconds of the round, the Brazilian was taken down after landing a good high kick.
The Brazilian maintained the strategy in the second round, however she was the victim of a single leg still in the first minutes. The Canadian made several transitions on the ground and landed good punches on the ground, completely dominating the second half.
Jasudavicius went for the takedown as soon as the third round began. Without much difficulty, the fighter set an intense pace by combining transitions on the ground and effective punishment with strikes on the ground. Just before the halfway point of the round, the Canadian locked in a triangle choke that forced Ariane to tap out.

This was the second consecutive defeat of Ariane da Silva, who now has six wins and seven losses in the biggest MMA organization in the world.
Brendson Ribeiro scores first UFC win after defeating Caio Machado
The fourth fight on the main card of UFC Edmonton brought two Brazilians from the light heavyweight category (up to 93 kg.) in identical situations: both Caio Machado as Brendson Ribeiro were looking for their first victory in the organization, after being defeated in their first two opportunities in the Ultimate. After three rounds, Ribeiro emerged victorious by split decision.
The fight began at a studied pace. While Brendson tried to corner his opponent and prioritize boxing combinations, Machado, who was making his debut in the light heavyweight division (up to 93 kg), tried to move laterally and maintain distance with kicks. In this clash of strategies, Ribeiro landed the best blows.
Caio Machado He tried to be more aggressive in the second round, keeping his high kicks. On the other hand, Ribeiro adopted a more defensive stance, but continued to land good straight punches as a counterattack. After hearing from his corner that he needed a knockout to win, Caio went on the attack in the third round, landing good punches.
At the end of the 15 minutes of fighting, Brendson Ribeiro was declared the winner by split decision of the judges, with two scoring it 29-28 in his favor, while the other saw the same score in favor of Caio Machado.
