Pedro Munhoz loses to Aiemann Zahabi at UFC Edmonton and suffers third consecutive defeat

The Brazilians' phase in the Ultimate is definitely not the best. A week after the six defeats in UFC 308, the preliminary card of the UFC Edmonton, this Saturday (2), also ended without Brazilian victories. After the setback of Rodrigo Zé Colmeia, it was the turn to Peter Munhoz be defeated by Aiemann Zahabi in the unanimous decision of the judges (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) after three busy rounds in the last fight before the main card of the event.

As a result, Peter Munhoz finds himself in a delicate situation and is suffering his third consecutive defeat in the octagon. At 38 years old, the Brazilian has not won since April of last year.

Pedro Munhoz has an exciting fight, but ends up defeated by Aiemann Zahabi

The beginning of the fight was a lot of study between Peter Munhoz e Aiemann Zahabi, without any blows landed in the first 50 seconds of the fight. The first attack came from the Brazilian, who cornered the Canadian and worked with jabs and front kicks. Zahabi responded with two blows over Pedro's guard and a medium kick. The Canadian increased the volume of blows, working a lot with his fists, while the Brazilian explored low kicks. Zahabi connected a good sequence of punches and knees. In the final stretch of the round, Peter Munhoz tried to accelerate and moved forward striking, but Zahabi connected good hands even while retreating.

The second round started off hot, with both athletes exchanging blows openly in the center of the octagon. Peter Munhoz landed some good straight punches, while Zahabi had success with combinations of crosses and knees. The Brazilian kept moving forward the whole time and putting in a lot of boxing volume, but Zahabi landed a hard right hand. The sixth fight of UFC Edmonton ended with another Canadian victory to cheer the crowd at Rogers Arena. In a duel valid for bantamweight (up to 61,2 kg), Charles Jourdain finished Victor Henry in the second round. In an extremely lively fight marked by alternating dominance, the Canadian fighter managed to secure a guillotine choke in the second round and handed the American his first defeat by submission in his career.

With the result, the former featherweight (up to 65,7 kg) Charles Jourdain recovers from a two-fight losing streak and makes his bantamweight debut with a win.

On the other side, Victor Henry suffers the first submission of his career and, in addition, sees an unbeaten streak that lasted three fights end. This is only the American's second defeat in six appearances in the UFC.

After a balanced first round, the Moroccan landed a brutal knee in the first minute of the second round and finished the job with a katagatame, forcing the Welshman to tap out three times.

As a result, Youssef Zalal remains undefeated in his second stint in the UFC and has his third consecutive victory in the organization, all of them achieved in 2024.

On the other side, Jack shore suffers his second consecutive defeat and finds himself in a delicate situation with three setbacks in his last four fights.
