In the main fight UFC 309, Jon Jones defends, for the first time, the heavyweight title (up to 120,2 kg) against Stipe Miocic. With just over two weeks to go until the duel, 'Bones' remains the overwhelming favorite with bookmakers, which is reinforced by the opinion of Derrick Lewis, who believes in a quick outcome in favor of the champion.

In a press conference at the 'Media Day' of UFC Edmonton, Lewis reinforced that Jones is the greatest of all time and predicted a quick victory for the champion in the fight that could be the last of his career.

“I think Jones is going to beat him in the first round, it’s crazy to see so many people disrespecting Jones like that, like he’s not the GOAT, for real. A lot of people throw around these terms like GOAT and this and that. Jones has been doing this for so many years at the top, against all these opponents, like guys ranked at the top,” said the UFC knockout record holder.

The American expresses his admiration for the champion, highlighting that, to compete in the UFC, athletes must be exceptionally prepared mentally. Lewis emphasizes that, despite the challenges Jones faces outside the octagon, the fighter manages to triumph in his fights.

“Even though he’s had all these issues outside of the UFC, it’s like people outside of the UFC don’t know that you have to go into these fights 80 percent mental, and it’s like 20 percent physical. If you don’t have the mentality to go into these fights, you’re not going to do well. For him to be going through everything that he’s been through, and still beat these guys like that, it says a lot.” Derrick Lewis.

Jon Jones, considered the greatest light heavyweight (up to 93 kg) in UFC history, moved up to the heavyweight category and won the belt at finish Ciryl Gane in March 2023. Since then, Jones has remained inactive and is now preparing to defend his title against Stipe Miocic No. UFC 309, scheduled for November 16. The fight will take place one year after the original clash was canceled due to a chest injury to the champion.
