Khalil rountree still recovering from the damage suffered after the fight with Alex Poatán, at UFC 307. The American even had to undergo a septoplasty, which he said was 'the worst pain in the world'. But if you think this will keep him away from the UFC, you're wrong. Rountree can't wait to get back into the octagon in search of the light heavyweight belt (up to 93kg).
Despite having already shown a willingness to face Jamahal hill, Rountree said in an interview with MMA Junkie who will take on anyone who gives him the chance to return to challenge for the title. The 'War Horse' believes he proved himself to be one of the best light heavyweights in his loss to Poatan and now he wants to show that he can be champion.
“I think right now any name in the top five or in the title fight for me makes sense. There’s no specific name. There’s not a person that I’m emotionally attached to or a fight that I think I deserve next. But I would like to continue to fight people in the top five so that I can get another title shot. It seems like most of the guys are either booked or injured, but while I’m recovering there will be a good number of fights to come and I would love anyone to get me ready for another title fight,” he revealed.

Rountree and Hill almost faced off in the UFC 303, in July, but the fight was canceled. The American, who lost by knockout to Poatan in UFC 300, had a video that went viral after appearing yawning at the result of the fight between the Brazilian and Rountree. Jamahal later clarified that the yawn was not directed at his compatriot.
“I saw it after the fact online. It’s nice to hear the clarification because based on the public response and everything I’ve seen, and other articles and posts I’ve seen, most people seem to think it was a fun fight. So I was a little confused as to why he thinks it was maybe boring or yawn-worthy. But like I said, clarification definitely helps. Not everyone is going to feel the same way. Not everyone is going to have fun,” Rountree concluded.
