Although Dana White has surrendered to the talent and quality of Alex Poatán, including up to the placing above Anderson Silva, the UFC boss knows that the reign of the current light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) will not last forever. This is because of the age of the Brazilian, now 37 years old.
During the post-fight press conference of UFC 307, Dana White said he knows that at Poatan's age there aren't many fights left when compared to an elite athlete in his early 20s.
“What this guy did is unbelievable. And the way he did it, this guy destroys everyone. This guy always wants to fight. He’s 37 years old too, it’s not like he’s 28 and has that many fights left. But we’ll see how it all plays out,” he said.

White went on to share his thoughts on how Poatan managed to defeat Khalil rountree in his third belt defense of the year.
“What a hell of a fight. You knew it was going to be a f*cking fight. You can never gauge the heart. You don’t know how it’s going to play out. I felt like the difference was the low leg kick, and when (Poatan) started kicking his calf, he was destroying that leg and he was having trouble pressing, and he was having trouble with his punching power, his movement, everything. He systematically started to dismantle him,” he concluded.
Poatan now awaits the confrontation of UFC 308 between Magomed Ankalayev e Aleksandar rakic. The winner of the fight will be able to challenge the Brazilian for the belt next.
