From the third round onwards, Poatan intensified the pressure on Rountree, landing precise and forceful blows. Knees to the face opened a deep cut, exposing the intensity of the fight. With each round, the face of the title challenger became more marked.

In the fourth round, Alex's superiority became evident. With calculated and strategic blows, the champion undermined Khalil's resistance, closing his right eye and causing considerable swelling across his face.

The image of the challenger, with his disfigured face but with the look of a warrior, became one of the most striking of the night.
