Alex Poatan gets scared, but manages to knock out Khalil Rountree at UFC 307
Poatan changed his stance and immediately went for a front kick. The American dodged, grabbed the Brazilian's leg and fended off the attack. The champion worked his strikes well with kicks, which were stopped by Rountree's guard. The well-known calf strikes also appeared. The challenger, however, was not shy. The jab and straight sequences connected with Alex's face, who absorbed the punches. The duel was evenly matched in the first round.
The second round was a panic for Poatan, who ended up falling to a counterattack from Khalil. The American got excited, went for it and, in the final stretch, also landed a shin kick to the Brazilian's face, which he absorbed well.
The comeback came in the third. More aggressive, Alex worked well with jabs and managed to find the distance. The Brazilian, with knees to the face, opened a cut on the American and went for it. Khalil also seemed to be getting tired.
It was extremely cruel. It all happened in the fourth round, with Poatan slowly undermining him. He was striking him in the waistline and face. He closed Khalil's right eye.
