Dana White reacts to Alex Poatan's possible return to middleweight to face Dricus Du Plessis

Posting Alex Poatán on social network reaffirming interest in dropping down a category to face champion Dricus Du Plessis and regain the middleweight belt (up to 83,9 kg) after defending the light heavyweight title (up to 93 kg) against Khalil rountree No. UFC 307, in October, moved the MMA community last Tuesday (3) and, obviously, did not go unnoticed by Dana White.

In a press conference held after the last edition of the Contender Series, on Tuesday night, the UFC president answered a question on the subject and praised the stance adopted by Poatan, although he avoided going into details about the viability of the Brazilian's possible move to middleweight.

“What I think about him is that he’s f***ing wild. That’s what I think. He wants to go up. He wants to go down. He wants to be everywhere. That’s why people love him. That’s the kind of fighter people love. Pereira wants to fight everybody. I love that,” Dana praised.

In addition to highlighting the fans' impression of Poatan, Dana stated that the Brazilian's stance makes the organization's work much easier in terms of matchmaking.

“Besides everyone loving him and that being great, it also gives us a lot of options in terms of fight pairings. ‘Should we do this? Should we do that?’ That’s a good problem to have with a guy like him. ‘What if he takes a last-minute fight while he’s on vacation?’ Everything about Alex Pereira is what makes the fans absolutely love the guy,” he concluded.
