Former strawweight world champion (up to 52,1 kg.), Jessica Andrade is going through a difficult situation in her personal life. The fighter sued the former coach, Gilliard Paraná, in the American justice system. According to Bate-Estaca, she was allegedly robbed of US$ 2 million by the coach (a little over R$ 11 million), who denies the accusations.

In an interview with the American website MMA Fighting, the athlete explained that her bank accounts were managed by Paraná. She would not have access to her financial earnings.

“We have a lawsuit about the TransferWise and the money that was passed on to other people that I have never met in my life. This happened when he was taking care of my finances and I had no access to anything. At one point he said: 'Jessica, look, let me take care of this for you, you don't have to worry about anything.' And as always, I trusted him. He removed my access to the account. He said: 'You don't have to look at your accounts, you will have a monthly salary,'” said the fighter.

Jéssica, who has 27 fights in the organization, said she was calm about the situation. According to her, the lawsuit was only filed in the United States, where she lives. Gilliard, on the other hand, returned to Brazil.

“I can sleep at night knowing that I did good things for everyone and never did anything bad to anyone. What he took from me is all he will have, because he lost all the athletes, he lost everything. The only thing he still has is the gym in Curitiba, which he opened with my money, and that is all he will have for the rest of his life,” he added.

Gilliard Paraná vehemently denied the accusations. According to the coach, in a statement released to the same website, the fighter was never denied access to financial resources, nor did she work as his manager.

“It was never like she is insinuating, that I stole a single cent from her, much less the amount she is talking about. She has a lot of expenses, and there are so many that she even gets lost in the calculations. Jessica is not incapable. She was never forbidden from going to the bank, from calling and finding out how her accounts were. She always had full access to her things and was always smart enough to know everything that was going on in her financial life. I was only her advisor when she needed it and asked for it. But all of this will be proven if there is a consistent investigation.”

Regarding the allegations of enrichment, Gilliard said he was being persecuted, recalling his work with other fighters, in several other organizations.

“In all the years she was with me, I always had other athletes. In fact, in the last few years, I had four fighters simultaneously in the UFC. According to her narrative, I had no salary, no other jobs, no other athletes and everything I bought in life I stole from her. It is really becoming a persecution for her to try to defame me. I had four athletes in the UFC and I always earned a lot from them because I fulfilled what I promised. Certainly, if I bought anything, if I have any assets, it is thanks to my work as a whole, nothing coming from the wrong thing”, he concluded.
