Heavyweight trainer (up to 120,2kg) Cyryl Gane, Fernand Lopez clarified the main recent controversy involving his pupil. In an interview with 'MMA Junkie', the leader of 'MMA Factory' confirmed that the French star refused to face Tom aspinall at UFC 304, but emphasized that the 'Bom Garoto' had already made an important professional commitment before the conversation with the organization.

“The first and only time the UFC offered Tom aspinall it was for July 27th (UFC 304). I asked Mick Maynard and Hunter (Campbell) to tackle Tom aspinall No. UFC 300, but he (Aspinall) was hoping that Jon Jones accepted the fight. Where is the proof of this? Who said Ciryl said no to Tom? Ciryl never said no to him. When they offered, I told the UFC why he couldn't fight (because of filming a movie). They even said something like: 'We know he's going to shoot a movie, but can we try? Can you leave the movie and come do this?' If he did that, Ciryl would be sued in court and would have to pay a lot of money to Netflix,” said Lopez.
Without Gane, Tom aspinall will measure forces with the North American Curtis blaydes at UFC 304, which takes place this Saturday (27), in a duel that will put at stake the interim heavyweight belt, currently held by the English fighter.
Former owner of the interim title, Ciryl already has a return date to the octagon set. The French star will share the octagon with the Russian Alexander Volkov No. UFC 308, which takes place on October 26st, in Abu Dhabi.
