“I am excited and honored to serve as President of PFL Africa, a league that will shape the foundation of African MMA. As we have seen, there is an abundance of talent in Africa just waiting to be given a global stage. I am so proud to give back to my homeland and provide great content to a region with such a passionate and diverse fan base,” Ngannou said in a statement.
PFL Africa will begin its activities in 2025 and aims to promote the sport and reveal new talents on the continent. To this end, the organization will promote events in African territory in which the main local promises can present themselves and compete. Just like the original version of the league, the competition format will feature a regular season followed by playoffs.
President of PFL Africa and the main signing in the organization's history, Ngannou does not yet have a confirmed debut date at his new home. The Brazilian Renan Problem is seen as a likely rival for the Cameroonian and former UFC champion.
