In the ring of indecision, the fight between Vitor belfort and Acelino Popó appears to be in checkmate. Given the uncertainty regarding the ideal weight for combat, the Rio native already has a wild card up his sleeve: Wanderlei Silva.
The historic rivalry between the two, immortalized in a devastating knockout at UFC 98, could resurface in new lights, this time on the noble stage of boxing. In a comment on social media, Vitor launched the challenge.

“If Popó gives up because of his weight, I'm sure Wanderlei won't run away”, he declared in response to a fan's comment.
The idea of a new chapter in the Belfort x Wand saga is not new. In 2012, the two almost faced each other in TUF Brazil, Ultimate's reality show. However, an injury took the 'Phenomenon' off the card, postponing the meeting once again.
But time seems to have sharpened the rivalry even more. Vitor, at 47 years old, boasts an enviable physical shape and declares himself ready for ever greater challenges. Wanderlei, at 47, is also staying in shape and has recently shown interest in returning to the ring.
Whether the fight against Popó takes place or not, the possibility of a rematch between Belfort and Wanderlei already ignites the flames of expectation.
