Confirmed as an opponent of Conor McGregor No. UFC 303, on June 29, Michael chandler suggested changes to the agreement for the confrontation. In an interview with 'The Mac Life', the athlete reinforced the importance of the fight and suggested the creation of a new category (up to 74,8kg), with the right to compete for a new belt.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if an agreement came up for a title fight in the under-74,8kg category. (non-existent in UFC). You never know, because the UFC keeps a lot of information secret, even from us. (…) The confrontation should have a belt up for grabs,” said Chandler.

No UFC 303, Conor will return to competition after almost three years of inactivity. In July 2021, the Irishman suffered a serious injury in the trilogy against Dustin poirier, which determined the defeat against the North American.
Bellator legend and former lightweight title challenger (under 70,3kg), Chandler waited for confirmation of the fight for more than a season. The North American has not performed since the end of 2022, when he was surpassed by Dustin poirier.
