The choice of Martinez to face Aldo is due to his good career moment. The North American has won six consecutive matches and is looking to establish himself as one of the main names in the division.

José, aged 37, retired in 2022 after a defeat to Merab Dvalishvili, but decided to return to the sport for one last fight at home. With a record of 31 wins and 8 losses, Aldo is considered by many to be the best featherweight in MMA history.
