Less than a month before his title defense against Jamahal hill No. UFC 300, Alex Poatán avoids claiming early victory, but does not hide his excitement at the possibility of being part of the UFC 301, on May 4, in Rio de Janeiro.
On his YouTube channel, the light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) outlined his preparation for the two events and stressed that his total focus is on the fight against Hill.

“First, I have to win the fight. I work with reality and I can lose or I can win. I'm doing everything I can to come out of there with victory. Everything working out, I can do this. All the fights I had in the UFC would have conditions. I’m doing very well”, pondered the middleweight champion.
Alex Poatan at UFC 300 and 301?
With a history of quick recovery between fights, Poatan ensures that the short space between UFC 300 and the 301 won't be a problem. The São Paulo native detailed his training routine and reinforced that the strategy does not change depending on the opponent.
“If I had to fight any other opponent, I would be doing the training I am doing. I do a lot of grappling training, prioritizing this part. If it were another opponent I would do the same training as I am doing now. It won’t be a problem”, he assured.
Poatan, 36 years old, is a former double GLORY Kickboxing champion (middleweight and light heavyweight) and has a record of nine wins and two losses in professional MMA. In his last fight, he won the light heavyweight belt by beating Jiri Prochazka by knockout UFC 295, in November.
