In a rare talk about memories of his UFC career, Khabib Nurmagomedov opened the game and commented on the historic rivalry between Conor McGregor in 2018. A declared enemy of the Irishman, the former lightweight champion (up to 70,3 kg.) adopted a frightening tone when suggesting what he would have done in the confrontation if the fight had not been stopped after the star gave up during a rear-naked choke.
“Would I have let him go? I wouldn't have. It was a moment when your emotional state is at its peak. Everything was fair. We both knew what we were getting into. It wasn't like strangling someone in the street, he was one of the best fighters in the world. We had six months to prepare. Would I have killed him? Probably not, but I would have let him pass out,” Khabib said in an interview with VK.

UFC 229 protagonists, Khabib and Conor faced each other for the lightweight title on that occasion. Irritated by all the provocations and speeches made by the Irishman throughout the promotion of the confrontation, the Russian stepped into the octagon ready to punish his opponent. In a dominant performance, 'Eagle' submitted McGregor in the fourth round after applying a rear naked choke and forcing the athlete to give up.
After the referee separated them, Khabib exchanged insults with McGregor's team and caused great confusion in the arena by exchanging blows with the rival team. The fact marked the history of the fighters, who to this day have not alleviated the climate of disaffection created.
