From Bellator to UFC: in addition to Michael Page, remember athletes who left the competition and tested themselves in Ultimate

SUPER FIGHTS lists the list of fighters who 'tried their luck' in the largest MMA organization in the world

Regular MMA fans will be able to watch a long-awaited debut on UFC 299. On the main card, Michael Page, former Bellator star, will debut in the largest MMA organization in the world. Rival of Kevin holland On this Saturday's show (9), the Englishman joins other names who 'tried their luck', leaving the competitor and testing himself in Ultimate.

In recent years, it was common for sports fans to follow fighters who left Ultimate to seek a 'survival' in the sport in its biggest competitor. Others, however, took the 'opposite route'.

Eddie Alvarez

For those who don't know, Eddie Alvarez is an iconic name in Bellator history. Representative of the organization between 2019 and 2013, the fighter won the inaugural lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg), becoming a landmark figure for the company.

In 2014, Alvarez moved to the UFC, but ended up defeated by Donald Cerrone right on its debut. The athlete, however, turned things around in style, winning the lightweight title against Rafael dos Anjos in 2016.

Michael chandler

Considered one of the biggest names in Bellator, Michael chandler built a successful legacy in the former organization chaired by Scott Coker. In the company, the North American won the lightweight title by beating Eddie Alvarez in 2011, in an epic challenge for MMA.

In the 2021 season, Chandler migrated to Ultimate and, after overcoming Dan Hooker in a brutal way on his debut, he qualified to compete for the lightweight belt against Charles of the Bronx. Faced with the Brazilian, the North American ended up losing the chance to assume the throne.

Joe soto

In 2010, Joe Soto became the first featherweight champion (up to 65,7kg) in Bellator, beating Yahir Reyes. The fighter's reign, however, was short-lived, and the athlete was dethroned in his first challenge as title holder, when he succumbed to Joe Warren.

The North American, however, had the opportunity to win a UFC belt upon his debut for the company, in 2014. The fighter, however, was the victim of TJ Dillashaw, the stumble being one of five suffered in eight commitments.

Alexander Volkov

Heavyweight 'giant' (up to 120,2kg.), Alexander Volkov He was once the 'king' of his category in Bellator. With his height of over 2 meters, the Russian rose to glory for the organization in 2012, winning the division tournament and winning the title against Rich Hale.

The year 2016 marked Volkov's move to the UFC. In the company, the athlete did not compete for the title, but, for years, he remains prominent in the top 15 of the group, currently being number six.

Ben askren

Many who followed Ben Askren's embarrassing trajectory in Ultimate may not know that the American is a reference in Bellator's history. For the company, the fighter reigned supreme at welterweight between 2010 and 2013.

Bought by the UFC from ONE Championship in 2019, having the legendary Demetrious Johnson involved in the negotiation, Askren arrived at the company promising to continue the success of his career in MMA. The fighter, however, suffered the first defeat of his career in the epic knockout suffered against Jorge masvidal. In total, the North American had two setbacks and one positive result for the company.

Hector Lombardi

Mixed martial arts veteran, Hector Lombardi had a successful stint in Bellator. In the company, the fighter led the middleweight division (up to 83,9kg) between 2009 and 2010.

Two years later, the fighter was hired by the UFC to 'haunt' the category that, since 2006, had been dominated by Anderson Silva. The fighter, however, did not have a convincing trajectory in the company, accumulating three victories in 12 appearances, in addition to testing positive in an anti-doping test in 2015.

Lyman good

The first welterweight champion (up to 77,1kg) in Bellator history, Lyman Good is in the company's memory books. Representative of the company between 2009 and 2013, the fighter had a positive trajectory in the company.

In 2015, Good signed with the UFC. For the organization chaired by Dana White, the athlete was '50 to 50', adding three triumphs and three setbacks.

Will brooks

One of the executioners of Michael chandler At Bellator, Will Brooks was one of the fighters who held the lightweight belt in the company. For the company, the fighter performed 10 times, winning on nine occasions.

In 2016, Brooks debuted in the UFC. In the company, however, the athlete did not repeat Bellator's good performances and had three setbacks in four fights.

Zack makovsky

Bantamweight athlete (up to 61,2 kg.), Zack Makovsky won the first tournament in the category with Bellator, being the division's inaugural champion in the company. In the company, the North American had eight clashes, winning on six occasions.

In 2013, Zack transferred to the UFC, but was unsuccessful. With seven challenges, the fighter was overcome in four clashes, having Jussier formiga as one of the executioners.
