Alexander Volkanovsky saw his featherweight reign (65,7 kg) come to a surprising end last Saturday (17/02), when he was knocked out by Ilia Topuria in the main fight of UFC 298. Despite the defeat, the former champion received praise from Ultimate's president, Dana White, who considered him the greatest in the category of all time, surpassing the Brazilian José Aldo.
At the press conference after the event, Dana White praised the former champion and placed him above Aldo, who dominated the division between 2011 and 2015, with seven title defenses. The Brazilian retired in 2022, after losing to Merab Dvalishvili, and dedicated himself to boxing.
