Protagonist in an electrifying battle against Justin gaethje No. UFC 286, Raphael Fiziev opened the game and talked about the tough defeat he suffered against the North American. Overcome in the majority decision of the judges, the athlete attributed the setback to the illegal finger strike given by his rival during the confrontation. According to the Azerbaijani fighter, his performance was compromised after the episode.

“Gaethje ran away from me for two rounds. He only started winning after he hit me in the eye with his finger and I couldn't see anything anymore. I couldn't see anything with my right eye. He fought well only after the poke in the eye and in the third round when I started to get tired”, declared Fiziev in an interview with 'The AllStar'.

Despite the statement, Fiziev acknowledged a mistake made during the confrontation.

“Maybe that was his strategy (running away from the fight). My strategy was shit, I did a lot of things wrong in the fight: I didn't listen to my coaches, I didn't follow the strategy. But even so, he ran all the time,” he concluded.
