Former title challenger, Aldana has reason to celebrate. In addition to preventing Karol's rise, the Mexican defended fifth place and recovered from the defeat suffered against Amanda nunes in a confrontation for the belt in UFC 289.
'War in the Octagon'
The fight started with Rosa taking the initiative with a right hand followed by a low kick. Even in the first minute, the combatants were conservative and launched long-range attacks. The Brazilian had the advantage and scored with precise strikes, avoiding entering the opponent's range of action. With three minutes gone, Aldana started to loosen up and hurt the Brazilian with efficient boxing. The Brazilian was the target of jabs and clean rights thrown by the Mexican. Karol bet on the combination and confused his opponent with blows to the head and low kicks. Irene accused the attacks, sometimes limping around the Octagon.
In the second round, the fighters began the confrontation aggressively, exchanging powerful blows in the center of the octagon. Karol continued to confuse his opponent and alternated between attacks to the head and kicks to the base. With two minutes gone, Aldana grew in the clash and initial punishment of the Brazilian close to the bars. With her guard up, the Espírito Santo protected herself and tried to prevent her opponent from advancing. Rosa started to circle the Octagon to get away from the bars. As time passed, the Mexican started to have an advantage in striking and was surprised by the volume of attacks. Near the end of the stage, Irene rocked the Brazilian with an upper, but there was no more time.
In the last round, Rosa lost his balance after receiving a clean right to the face. Aldana's boxing continued to surprise and give the Mexican an advantage. The Brazilian had difficulty finding the distance and launched attacks in vain. After a minute, an overhand from Rosa exploded in her rival's face, but the Mexican continued walking forward. Halfway through the stage, Irene grew in the fight and started hurting the Espírito Santo's body with clean blows to the face and waistline. Karol's bloodied face proved the consequences of his opponent's actions. Although she was at a disadvantage in striking, Rosa was brave and responded to her opponent's attacks. The duel was 'back and forth', and excited the audience present at the 'T-Mobile Arena'. The confrontation ended with the athletes in a frank exchange close to the bars.
