Brazilian highlight on the preliminary card of the UFC 295, held this Saturday (11), in New York (USA), Tabatha Ricci was overcome in a balanced confrontation. Opponent of Lupita Godinez, the strawweight representative (up to 52,1kg.) had good and bad moments in the confrontation. After three disputed rounds, the Mexican was declared the winner in a split decision by the judges.

With the defeat, Tupiniquim's rise in the division was halted. Previously climbing towards the top 5, the fighter had accumulated four victories in a row.

Responsible for 'ruining Ricci's party', Godinez expanded the good moment. The Mexican now has four consecutive positive results.

Balanced challenge

The fight started with Ricci taking the initiative with a low kick. The Brazilian bet on long-range attacks and adopted caution to enter the opponent's range of action. With just over half of the round, Tabatha closed the distance and attempted a takedown, but Lupita defended well. With two minutes remaining until the end of the stage, the Brazilian ended up losing her balance after a direct shot from her opponent. Ricci quickly got up and the challenge was fought again in the center of the Octagon. At the end of the round, it was Godinez's turn to go to the canvas with a straight shot from Tabatha, but there was no more time.

In the second round, Godinez remained precise in his attacks, not wasting blows. Tabatha avoided a direct fight with her opponent and scored from long distance. The challenge remained balanced, with both measuring strength in the center of the octagon. Halfway through the round, Lupita connected two clean rights to the Brazilian's face, forcing Ricci to walk back. With almost a minute to go in the stage, Tabatha attempted a takedown, but the Mexican defended herself well. In the final seconds, an unintentional clash of heads between the athletes sent Godinez to the canvas. Ricci tried to take advantage of the good moment, but the timer ran to zero.

In the last round, Tabatha returned determined to end the confrontation. In the opening seconds, the Brazilian closed the distance and attempted a takedown. Once again, the Mexican stopped Ricci's advance. Almost halfway through the round, Tabatha tried another takedown, but Lupita, once again, frustrated the Tupiniquim. Towards the final minute, Lupita continued to be precise with her jabs and straight shots, while Ricci was unable to cancel out her opponent's advantage. The fight ended with the athletes exchanging attacks in the center of the Octagon.

Promise of Ultimate, Sadykhov came close to being knocked out in the first round. The athlete, however, recovered in the following rounds and took part of the punishment suffered against his rival. The triumph confirms the fighter's invincibility in the company.

Like Nazim, Borshchev saw the negative result up close in the second round. The fighter, however, showed resistance and managed to avoid the outcome in the fast lane. The draw postpones the beginning of the fighter's new undefeated streak.

The first fight of UFC 295 gave indications that the night could be very exciting for MMA fans. Featherweight (up to 65,7kg) Jamall Emmers needed just 49 seconds to land a clean right to the face of Dennis Buzukja, which was immediately knocked down. Emmers still hit his fallen opponent for a few more seconds, until the referee stopped it.

The quick knockout put Emmers back on the path to winning in Ultimate. The North American now has a record of 20 triumphs and seven setbacks as a sports professional.

Buzukja suffered his second defeat in two fights in the company and now boasts a record of 11 positive results and four negative results as a professional in the sport.
