About to debut in MMA without gloves, Werdum says he would like to face Cigano in Vale-tudo

This Friday (8), Fabricio Werdum e Junior Gypsy face each other in the main fight of Gamebred Bareknuckle 5, a bare-knuckle MMA event. For some, the idea may seem very radical, but for Werdum, it could be even more so.

In an interview with the North American website 'MMA Junkie', the gaucho stated that he even asked Jorge masvidal, former UFC fighter and owner of Gamebred Bareknuckle, so that the duel against Cigano would be fought under Vale-tudo rules, a fighting style that precedes MMA, in which, as the name suggests, almost anything goes.

“The first time I saw Jorge masvidal, two months ago in Las Vegas, I told him that I would like to fight MMA so that we could do headbutts, goal shots, stomps and everything else. But he told me there was no time to change the rules. Anyway, I like this idea”, said 'Vai Cavalo'.

At 46 years old and with more than 35 fights as an MMA professional, this will be the first time Fabricio Werdum practicing the sport without gloves. For the former UFC champion, however, this is not so relevant.

“I think MMA gloves are so small that it doesn’t make a difference. It's the same thing with or without gloves. If it were a boxing glove, there would be a difference. But I like the idea”, he concluded.
