Thiago Moisés has an insane fight, but succumbs to the aggression of Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC Paris

Lightweight representative, Brazilian is defeated by technical knockout in a fight marked by frank striking

Back in the octagon for his second commitment in 2023, Thiago Moses lived an insane fight in UFC Paris. Featured on the main card this Saturday (2), the lightweight (up to 70,3kg.) showed strength, but succumbed to the aggressiveness of Benoit Saint-Denis. After a frank first round, the Brazilian could not resist his opponent's actions and ended up defeated by technical knockout in round two.

The setback ends a series of two consecutive victories for the São Paulo native. In addition to the stumble, the fighter momentarily postpones his dream of returning to the top 15 of the group led by Islam makhachev.

With a gala performance, Saint-Denis extends the good moment. In front of his fans, the Frenchman reached his fourth positive result in a row in the company.

The price of battle

The fight began with Saint-Denis taking the initiative with two low kicks. Still in the first round, the challenge was interrupted twice by low blows applied by the Frenchman. The Brazilian returned to the clash and the challenge became frank. Benoit was aggressive and tried to corner the Tupiniquim against the bars. Afterwards, the 'home' athlete shortened the fight, going into a grappling fight and pressing the Brazilian against the bars. On his knees, the São Paulo native received knees, but the fighters moved away. Thiago started attacking the legs of his opponent, who was attacking him. The fighters once again engaged in a frank confrontation and were looking for a knockout. With around two minutes left in the stage, Saint-Danis managed a fall. The Brazilian tried to reverse the situation, but the Frenchman continued to press. On top, Benoit used ground and pound and punished the Tupiniquim. Afterwards, Moisés tried to take advantage of his opponent's carelessness and risked an ankle lock. Benoit defended well and the fighters got back to their feet. In the final seconds, the lightweight representatives went to 'war' and sought the knockout with a sequence of crosses, but the timer ran to zero.

In the second round, Moisés launched a straight shot, which went empty. Saint-Denis responded with a shot to the belt. Afterwards, the Frenchman shortened his position again and looked for a takedown. Thiago tried to defend himself, but, on his knees, he received attacks from his rival. Benoit gave no space and prevented Thiago from reacting, who continued to be in a disadvantageous position. With almost two minutes gone, the Brazilian managed to move away, but it was Saint-Denis who controlled the actions. Halfway through the stage, the São Paulo native managed to take a fall, but Benoit managed to get away and stay on his feet. The Frenchman was aggressive and hurt the Tupiniquim with his actions. After three minutes, the Brazilian showed signs of tiredness and Benoit managed to take his opponent to the ground. On top, Benoit struck and looked for space for a submission. In the final minute, Saint-Denis resisted, but was punished in the octagon. Moses only protected his head, but he was still hit hard on the head. Almost at the end of the round, the referee declared the end of the fight, determining victory for the Frenchman.

A debutant at the event, Guskov ended up having a harsh reality check. Facing a veteran of the company, the knockout artist became easy prey and his streak of four wins on the fast track ended.

French promise in MMA, Morgan Carriere shined in his UFC debut. Former representative of Cage Warriors, the athlete was not aware of Manolo Zecchini. Aggressive, the featherweight (up to 65,7kg) massacred his opponent with a knockout, via a kick to the ribs in the first round.

With the victory, Charriere, 27 years old, extended his good momentum. Now, the fighter has four consecutive victories.

Victim of Morgan, Manolo had no chance in the confrontation. Unable to impose his strategy, the athlete, who was also making his debut in Ultimate, had a run of two victories ended.
