Recovered from the hard knockout suffered in his last appearance, Dominick Cruz opened the game and talked about the future in MMA. Acting as a commentator for Ultimate, the athlete stated that he continues training as a professional and that retirement is not the point at the moment. During podcast interview 'Anik&Florian', the former champion spoke about his next steps.
“This crazy Dom doesn't work everywhere, nobody wants to see this guy, so I have to leave him out and this is the guy you usually see in these interviews, but the ego guy is who my coach talks to and this is the guy my coach says 'shut up, what are you talking about? What does booking a fight mean? you didn’t get it right enough, you didn’t get it right enough,’ my coach will tell me when I’m ready and that’s one of the blessings I have is that I don’t have to make that decision alone,” Dominick said.

By reinforcing his statement, Cruz highlighted the importance of living with good leaders.
“It’s great to have leaders. I can't do it alone because my emotions are pulled into it, my ego is pulled into it. You have to have an ego in the fight, otherwise there is no reason to show up, so I do, I just can't use it everywhere because it doesn't always work”, he concluded.

Inactive for a year, Dominick remains in the top 10 of the bantamweight division (up to 61,2kg). At 38 years old, the athlete had been enjoying two consecutive victories until he was defeated by Marlon Vera in August 2022. Currently the former champion of the category has 24 victories and four setbacks on his record.
