Taila Santos minimizes Erin Blanchfield's hype and evaluates fight at UFC Singapore

The former challenger said she didn't care about the status of the promise and stated that it would be too big a challenge for the American.

On the eve of facing one of the biggest promises in the flyweight division (under 56,7kg), the Brazilian Taila Santos showed calmness for the duel. On the 'media day' of UFC Singapore, which takes place next Saturday (26), the former challenger minimized the North American's hype and said that it will be too big a challenge for her rival.

“Erin is a new fighter, but I believe they put the horse before the horse. Is she better than me? Yes, she is good on the floor. My training is in Muay Thai. I feel very comfortable changing (positions), but I'm also very good on the ground. I’m confident in myself too,” said Taila.

Even though she recognizes the talent of her young opponent, Taila said she is not afraid of sharing the octagon with the American.

“I'm very excited about it, because a lot of people say it has promise. But if she is a promise, I am a reality, so I am very excited about that”, concluded the Brazilian.

Numbers 3 and 4 in the flyweight ranking, respectively, Erin Blanchfield e Taila Santos will measure forces on the main card of the UFC Singapore, which takes place next Saturday (26). The winner of the duel will be very close to the title fight against the winner of the clash between the champion Alexa grasso e Valentina Shevchenko, who will face each other on September 16th.
