On the eve of the awaited UFC 291, Henry Cejudo showed solidarity with Dustin poirier and chose the highest quality lightweight athlete (up to 70,3kg) in the UFC. With an eye on his compatriot’s next fight, ‘Triplo C’ highlighted the willpower displayed by ‘Diamante’ and praised the North American’s skills. According to the former double champion, the challenger for the BMF belt is prepared to feel pain.
“Poirier’s greatest gift is his damn start, man. Boy can this guy take a hit. He takes it to another level because he can give and he can take. Not everyone has the ability to really take it… It's finishing the race for a five-round fight, but still having the ability to just have a strong body, the ability to be able to feel pain,” Cejudo said.

Despite the praise, Cejudo highlighted a technique that Poirier could improve.
“I think if there’s one area where Poirier could really adjust, it’s his defense. If you don't have a good defense, it's only a matter of time before something happens. He gets hit a lot. He has an incredible finishing game, but the only thing he lacks is the damn technique,” he concluded.

Former interim lightweight champion, Poirier is preparing to stage a long-awaited rematch. Scheduled to compete for the BMF belt this Saturday (29), the athlete faces Justin gaethje and seeks to maintain a history of victory over the opponent.
