Cejudo comes to Aldo's defense and declares that Volkanovski has not yet surpassed the Brazilian's achievements

After a gala presentation at UFC 290, Alexander Volkanovsky weighed even more heavily on the discussion about who would be the greatest featherweight (up to 65,7kg) in the history of Ultimate. Former rival of José Aldo, Henry Cejudo went against the latest opinions and declared that the Australian has not yet surpassed the Brazilian's achievements in the category. According to 'Triple C', 'the numbers don't lie'.

“If I were in Volkanovski's place, I would fight against Islam. You have six (five) title defenses now. You are two (three) away from winning José Aldo for the most title defenses in featherweight history. But, you move up a weight class, you win the lightweight title… That puts you in a different category. From now on, just based on numbers, José Aldo He's still the best featherweight of all time. Just based on numbers. I'm not saying the best featherweight of all time, but by the facts and the numbers, he's still the José Aldo. You forget the special things that José Aldo did and the fighters he beat. The numbers don’t lie”, declared Cejudo on his channel YouTube.

Victorious in his last appearance, Volkanovski became first place in the UFC's weight-for-pound rankings, surpassing Jon Jones. Undefeated in the category, the athlete has 13 triumphs.
