Commentator argues that Ronda Rousey deserves to fight for the title if she returns to the UFC

Jon Anik assumes that the position defended is hypocritical, but claims that the North American deserves to star in an eventual title fight if he returns to Ultimate

After Amanda nunes announcing his retirement from MMA, Jon Anik began to consider the possible return of Ronda Rousey to the UFC. According to the commentator, if the former bantamweight champion (61,2kg.) decides to appear in the octagon again, the fight should be valid for the category belt, for reasons of meritocracy. In an interview the 'MMA Fighting', the announcer defended his opinion.

“In a true meritocracy, this will not sit well with me or the athletes who have donated blood, sweat and tears to mixed martial arts in recent years. If anyone is worthy of this opportunity, it is probably Ronda Rousey, and I believe she would be competitive. She wouldn't enter this scenario without the guarantee that she would be competitive. But, I didn't like that Henry Cejudo came back and cut the line of a bunch of rooster athletes that were active. So it would be hypocritical of me to say 'absolutely'. But if there was a time, it would absolutely be now,” Anik said.

Away from MMA since suffering a tough defeat against Amanda nunes at UFC 207, Ronda has ventured into WWE events, where she stars in choreographed fights. At 36 years old, the athlete returned to activities after watching her son grow up with Travis Browne.

Former UFC champion, the fighter had a historic reign and triumphed on six occasions for the organization. With her strengths in grappling, Rousey triumphed six times via the fast track. Despite the commentator's speech, the American did not comment on her eventual return to MMA.
