On the eve of UFC Las Vegas, Petr Yan recalls controversial defeat and responds about possible rematch

Before the clash against Merab Dvalishvili, former champion stated that in the event of a new fight against 'Sugar', he will not let the duel reach the judges' decision

On the eve of the duel against Merab Dvalishvili No. UFC Las Vegas, the Russian Petr yan did not forget the controversial defeat he suffered against Sean O’Malley. On the 'media day' of the event that will be held next Saturday (11), the former bantamweight champion (up to 61,2kg) said that he does not intend to 'suffer' for the past, but highlighted that, in the event of a rematch against the North American, he will not let the duel reach the judges' decision.

“I made this decision and I need to move on, I need to forget the past. So I'm just thinking about the future. You always want to end the fight early, you don't want to leave it in the hands of the judges. So my goal is to finish it (Merab Dvalishvili),” O’Malley said.

Asked about a possible rematch, Yan said that he will first focus on the duel against Merab, however, he stated that in a second duel with O’Malley, he will not let the clash reach the judges’ sheets.

“I think I need to win the fight (against Dvalishvilli) first and then we’ll see what comes next. I think I already beat O’Malley. If I have to do it again, I will do it more convincingly”, concluded the former champion.

Despite his confidence, Yan is not having a good time in the octagon. The Russian fighter comes from two consecutive defeats, to aljamain sterling and Sean O'Malley. The former bantamweight champion has a record in the sport of 16 triumphs and four setbacks.
