On March 4, the UFC 285 promotes the long-awaited return of Jon Jones to the Ultimate Octagon. Away from competitions since the victory over Dominick reyes, in February 2020, the former light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg) debuts in the heavyweight division (120,2kg) against the former interim champion Cyryl Gane, considered by many to be one of the best exchangers in the category, but which doesn't scare 'Bones'.

Asked by a follower on 'Twitter' if he considers himself Cyryl Gane the best 'striker' he's ever faced, Jon Jones refuted and cited the Brazilians Lyoto Machida e Thiago Marreta as more dangerous athletes than the Frenchman in stand-up fighting.

“No, I don't think (that Gane is the best striker I've ever faced). Thiago Santos, Lyoto Machida, the list goes on. I faced a lot of guys who were savage stand-up fighters. Guys with knockout power in one very intimidating blow. I feel very comfortable and this is definitely not a kickboxing fight,” replied Jones.

In response to another follower, the former light heavyweight champion denied feeling slower as a heavyweight and assured that he had acquired an important factor, which he did not have as a light heavyweight: knockout power.

“No way (I feel slower). In fact, I feel faster and more explosive. I definitely have knockout power that I didn’t have before,” she stated.
