VIDEO: Makhachev or Volkanovski? MMA community analyzes UFC 284 main fight

It's time for UFC 284, an event held next Saturday (11) and which marks the return of Ultimate to Australia. The show, which is promoted as one of the main shows in the first half of the 2023 season, excites fans with the fight for the lightweight belt (up to 70,3 kg) between Islam makhachev e Alexander Volkanovsky, who are champions and the two highest ranked among all categories in the organization.

O SUPER FIGHTS, on his 'YouTube' channel, promoted the debate: who wins? Makhachev or Volkanovski? To help, the team brought five Brazilian personalities from the world of MMA, who gave their opinions on the highly anticipated 'duel of champions'.

“Volkanovski is a guy who, despite his better size, has a grip. But I think Makhachev, in grappling, has an advantage. Russians are excellent Grapplers. Volkanovski has a chance if he keeps the fight standing, as he has a strong grip. But Makhachev is capable of finishing the fight. He’s the favorite for me,” analyzed ‘Minota’.

Alexandre pantoja

“Volkanovski is a guy I admire a lot and I want to be like him. Too bad. It's a 'knife in the skull'. For me, I'm a fan of José Aldo, but Volkanovski dethroned all the top guys in the category. And Makhachev, a guy who came from a victory over Charles (from the Bronx) in Abu Dhabi – which is a hot place, crazy time zone and different food. (…), I hope Volkanovski wins, not only because of sadness for Islam makhachev to have beaten Charles, but also to put an end to the 'thinking' that Sambô and the Russians are invincible”, said Pantoja.

Renato Moicano

“A fight I didn’t expect to see. I don't know what they did to make this fight happen. Volkanovski has been dominating the category and Makhachev just beat Charles. But, being very brief and sincere, I believe in Makhachev to be much superior and, if he lasts the five rounds, it will be a 'victory' for Volkanovski. (Islam) is better, bigger and more experienced in Wrestling. It won’t work for Volkanovski”, said Moicano.

Ismael 'Marreta' Bonfim

“I go against the people and I'm with Alexander Volkanovsky. I don't think Makhachev will be able to put him down, not to mention that the guy is a phenomenon. I think Volkanovski gives Volkanovski a decision from the judges (…), I speak for myself, the lower he is, the more difficult it is to put him down”, argued Ismael 'Marreta' Bonfim.

Gabriel 'Marretinha' Bonfim

“I'm going with Volkanovski, too. To put the 'shorty' down, it will be grated. Not to mention the striking, which is absurd. It's the best striking in the UFC. He is too sinister and I think he will knock out Makhachev”, he concluded Gabriel Bonfim.
