Escalated to face Jorge masvidal No. UFC 287, on April 8, Gilbert Durinho He asked for a five-round fight and challenged the American to put the 'BMF' title on the line. With a thirst to perform categorically, the Brazilian questioned Ultimate's silence and expressed his frustration. In an interview with 'MMA Fighting', the welterweight opened up about the matter.
“It is definitely a disappointment. I'm still waiting for the UFC. We're talking to the UFC, if they say, 'We don't think so', I'll say, 'please, let's go'. I don't ask for much. I only want five rounds. You did five rounds to Leon edwards e Nate diaz, you did five rounds on other occasions. Why not? It's very difficult when a guy says no, it's very difficult for the UFC to say yes. So let's see. I would love to have that BMF title in place and five rounds for sure, because I think I’m going to destroy this guy,” Burns said.

With plans to submit the next three opponents to earn the chance to fight for the welterweight title (under 77,1kg) again, Durinho explained the reason for asking for a five-round fight.
“The main objective is to destroy these fighters and become champion. So, if it doesn't happen, it doesn't happen. Three rounds, I'm going to make this guy suffer so much in three rounds, which should be enough, but five rounds guarantees that I'll literally finish him off. But if Jorge doesn’t want to, it’s okay”, concluded the Brazilian.
Coming off a submission victory in UFC 283, when it hit Neil Magny, Gilbert Durinho gets closer and closer to the belt. Current number five in the category, the Niteroi native has 21 wins and five defeats on his record.
Scheduled to face 'Jesus of the Streets', Burns will step back into the octagon at UFC 287, on April 8.
