Holder of the UFC welterweight (up to 77,1kg) belt, Leon edwards want to settle accounts with Jorge masvidal ASAP. In an interview with 'The MMA Hour', the champion imposed the conditions that the North American must have to compete for the division's throne. Disaffected since 2019, the enmity was created after the two fought backstage at the UFC London.

"For sure. If he goes there and beats Gilbert, I think this is the fight to make. It's been a long time, three, four years since our fight. Let’s get there and fix it once and for all,” Edwards said.

Despite having Masvidal in his sights, Leon reinforced that the first step is to win the trilogy against Kamaru Usman, and then worry about the next title defense.

“Now I’m the king of the division. It's all good. I'm focused on Usman. He's the toughest fight in the division. So I'm focused on him. I'll pass by him and, from there, we'll see what to do”, concluded the Englishman.

With provocations exchanged since 2019, 'Rocky' and 'Jesus das Ruas' seek to resolve the confusion created in the UFC London. At the time, the American was giving an interview after triumphing in the event, when Edwards walked by and provoked him. Even with security guards, Masvidal managed to throw punches and hurt the current champion.

Both fighters have fights scheduled in the organization. Edwards will make his trilogy with the Nigerian in issue 286, on March 18th and Jorge was selected to face Gilbert Durinho, UFC 287, April 11.
