The only Brazilian at UFC Las Vegas 66, debutant Alessandro Costa suffers a tough knockout against top 10 flyweights

Despite showing determination, the Brazilian, who started the match well, was a new victim of the experienced amir albazi. After being knocked down and remaining on his feet, the only Brazilian in the event ended up being surprised by a clean right, which led to an immediate knockout.

With the defeat, Costa had a sequence of seven positive results interrupted. The fighter also momentarily loses the opportunity to be in the top 10 of the flyweight division (up to 56,7kg).

Current number eight of the group that has Deiveson Figueiredo as linear champion, Albazi defended his position in the category. In addition to the achievement, the Iraqi reached the mark of four consecutive victories in the UFC and continues without setbacks in the company.

Win the experience

The confrontation began with the athletes respecting and studying each other in the center of the Octagon. The first to attack was Albazi, who threw a clean jab at the Brazilian's face. The Brazilian responded with a cross and, subsequently, the Iraqi looked for a takedown. Halfway through the stage, Amir insisted on his position, but Alessandro managed to free himself. As time passed, the Brazilian began to loosen up and worked well on short-range strikes, but there was no more time.

After an even first half, Albazi managed to take down Alessandro with a singular direct shot. The Iraqi went head-to-head and sought to settle the invoice. From below, Costa tried to stop the confrontation and prevent his opponent's actions. Halfway through the stage, Amir continued to take the initiative and look for openings to strike. The Tupiniquim tried not to remain static and threw punches from below. The round ended with the Iraqi in control.

The last round started with Albazi attacking first, with a front kick. Costa was not intimidated and responded to his opponent's attacks. Still in the first minute, Amir managed a providential takedown onto the manauara. Alessandro proved his determination and managed to get up. The Brazilian, however, ended up receiving a hard straight shot to the face and collapsed, suffering a hard knockout.

With the intention of winning again in Ultimate, Alex Caceres fulfilled its role in style. Representative of the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg), the athlete carried out a true massacre in front of julian erosa. With a dodge followed by an overwhelming high kick, the fighter achieved a brutal knockout on the main card.

With the victory, Caceres recovers from the defeat suffered by Sodiq Yusuf, in March. Now, the athlete returns to the path of victory after more than one season.

Hardly beaten at the event, Erosa has reason to regret. The severe setback suffered in UFC Las Vegas 66 interrupted a streak of three wins in the fighter's record.

Used to provoking and inducing rivals to make mistakes, Bobby Green paid the price for his style. In a clash between veterans, the lightweight (up to 70,3kg) accepted a straight fight against Drew dober, but ended up succumbing to the firepower of his rival. During the exchange of blows, the athlete received a clean cross and fell unconscious, suffering a brutal knockout in the second round.

The loss leaves Green suffering his second consecutive setback. Previously, the athlete had succumbed to Islam makhachev, before the Russian wore the division title.

Even with difficulties in the first stage, Dober managed to recover. Taking advantage of his opponent's low guard, Drew knocked him out hard and reached the mark of three consecutive victories.

Veteran in the middleweight (up to 83,9 kg.) of Ultimate, Michal Oleksiejczuk put on a show in the clash that opened the main card. Opponent of Cody Brundage, the athlete showed his 'Polish strength' and gave his opponent no chance. With sharp hands and ground and pound pressure, the fighter achieved victory via technical knockout in the first round.

With the victory, Michal reaches his second victory in a row. The athlete now has four positive results in the last five challenges.

Victim of Oleksiejczuk, Brundage suffers his first setback in the third challenge of the 2022 season. The fighter was coming off triumphs over Dalcha Lungiambula and Tresean Gore.
