UFC strawweight champion (up to 52,2kg), Weili Zhang once again insisted on having a superfight against the owner of the flyweight belt (up to 56,7kg) Valentina Shevchenko. In a statement to 'MMA Fighting', the Chinese fighter praised her likely rival, praised the high level of the possible confrontation and emphasized that it is one of her career goals to share the octagon with the Kyrgyz athlete.

“Yes, it is a goal, for sure (to fight with Valentina Shevchenko). No doubt. I thought about this a few years ago. Eventually we will meet in the octagon because the weight divisions are very close. I don't know if I'll take her belt, but I can guarantee one thing. It will be awesome if the champion and I share the Octagon. It will be a great performance, regardless of the result. She is such an incredible martial artist, I am willing to step into the Octagon and learn from her, share the female fighting spirit,” Zhang said.

After reigning in the division between 2019 and 2020, 'Magnum' regained the strawweight belt in the UFC 281, which took place on November 11th.
